Summers ran for a pair of one-yard scores and threw an yard TD pass to Tanner Holbert. Blayton Reid led the Tigers with yards rushing. Joseph Owusu-Ansah had 88 yards and two TDs on four carries, Christian Manville had 81 yards on three carries with a score, Jadyn Garnes had 58 yards on three carries with two touchdowns, Brock Kidwell rushed for 67 yards and a score on five carries and Joey Skowron had a yard TD run. Dylan Reyes threw for yards and four touchdown passes in leading host Olentangy Berlin to a win over Lancaster Reyes connected with Bennett Lawrence twice in the first half to help build a lead.

Harrison Brewster added 97 yards on two carries, an yard touchdown catch and two interceptions. JJ Siebert rushed for yards and three touchdowns in leading Olentangy Liberty past host Westerville Central Siebert also threw for 94 yards and Chase Brecht added yards on the ground with a score.

Pickerington North scored the game's final 22 points to pull away from host Olentangy Orange in nonleague action. The Panthers outscored the Pioneers in the second half and had four rushing touchdowns as part of their yard effort on the ground. Dawaun Green amassed yards on 28 carries with three TDs.

Eli Coppess rushed for 67 yards with a score, had 57 yards on four receptions and a touchdown and added 7. Jake Werling had three touchdowns, two passing and a one-yard run early in the fourth quarter, to help Orange take leads of and before the Panthers rallied.

Brae Friesner totaled yards and four touchdowns - on just six touches - as host Berne Union rolled to a win over Beaver Easton. Friesner had yards on five carries with touchdown runs of 35, 71 and 90 and added a yard TD catch. Nate Nemeth, who threw the TD pass to Friesner, ran for yards on eight carries with two TD runs and also returned an interception 50 yards for a touchdown.

Carsyn Crouch threw for three touchdowns, Devon Haley ran for three and Granville cruised to a nonleague victory over host Johnstown Crouch finished with yards passing while Haley ran for on 11 carries. Four Licking Valley backs had at least 60 yards rushing and combined for five touchdowns as the Panthers downed visiting Northridge Quarterback Hayden Rodgers led the Panthers with total yards - 81 rushing and 59 passing - with one passing and rushing touchdown apiece.

Most teams practiced in pods throughout much of summer and followed social distancing guidelines as much as possible during the rest of the season.

This summer, during which time programs practiced mostly unabated, Ohio began experiencing a climb in positive COVID test results in early August — a trend that has continued since. The effects have been felt inside schools, where the possibility of quarantines continually looms. Last year you were just excited to be able to do anything and this year there was a little more of an expectation of things being normal.

One of the early season cancellations was a highly anticipated community rivalry game: Westerville South at Westerville Central on Aug. Another big matchup to come off the board was Reynoldsburg at Gahanna Lincoln, which was scheduled for Sept. Two days before the game, Gahanna players and coaches learned of a positive case within the program, and it was determined that about 40 players would be quarantined as close contacts.
